18 Months Old!

Diana is 18 months old. Today we went to the Doctor for her check up. She weights 25 pounds 11 ounces and is 31.5 inches tall. Diana is now able to stand up from sitting without holding onto anything. She is fairly stable on her feet. She is talking a lot now. She knows over 20 words. Some of the words include: dog, cat, car, bus, water (wawa), cracker, mom (mama), dad (dada), papa (grandpa Richard), nana (grandma Lynda), shoe, toes, elbow, Barbara, Rachelle (Shell), Alder (a boy at daycare), blue, red, black, green, bra, and boob.

Diana is staying cool is all this heat.
She was a trooper after having three shots. She only cried for a minute. Her whole wheat bunnies helped stop the tears. Not a surprise that Diana was comforted with a snack.

Diana loves shoes!

Grandpa Steven came for a visit over the weekend. He came to swimming class, the park, and a night out of thai food and desert. Diana enjoyed herself. At dinner she ate a lot of tofu.

On Sunday night Sean and I (the Harris sisters, Rachelle, and a few of her friends) went to see the Indigo Girls at the zoo. Diana stayed home with Grandma Sue. We may have to take Diana next year. She would love all the music and dancing.

Diana is a Walking All-Star

Diana started walking on Tuesday at day care.  She's been close for awhile, but on Tuesday she put it all together.  Maybe she knew that the baseball All-Star Game was also on Tuesday, and she wanted to steal Ichiro's thunder.  So, Ichiro: consider your thunder stolen.  Diana came home and showed us her newfound walking abilities.  We shot a short video of the first steps at home.

If you're following closely, you'll notice the great "bait and switch" parenting technique I employed.  In my defense, I didn't know the potato was still too hot.

Oregon-Part 2: The Oregon Coast

We spent four days at the Oregon Coast.  The first day it was beautiful!  We were able to play at the beach.  I don't remember the last time it was warm enough to stay on the beach for any length of time.  Last summer we were in our winter hats on the beach.  On Friday evening Sean and I went to dinner to celebrate our 3rd anniversary.  Thanks to Rachelle, Richard, and Mom for babysitting.

Diana tests out he new shovel and pail.  She enjoyed digging with her shovel and her hands.

Checking out the sand on her hands.
Diana had a good time eating the sand.

She was a mess!

Diana imitating Edgar (and all other dogs she sees or hears).  Not only does she stick her tongue out, she makes a panting noise just like a dog.  Nana taught her that.

Eating corn on the cob for the first time.
Diana tried a lot of new foods on our trip:  Goat cheese, kalamata olives, deviled eggs, and egg salad sandwiches.  She enjoyed them all.  She kept asking for more goat cheese and deviled eggs.

We met Rachelle's college friend Dorothy and her family at Hug Point.  It was suppose to be low tide but it didn't look like it.

Dotty and her daughter Cambria

Diana spent some time investigating  the rocks.

Checking out the tide pools
Diana explored by putting her foot in.

The Three Sisters

We had a wonderful time in Oregon, despite both Sean and I being sick.  It was great seeing our family.

Diana In Her Dress

These pictures are from a few weeks ago.  They were on our small camera and I totally forgot about them.  These are pictures of Diana at my co-worker's wedding reception.  Diana had a lot of sugar that afternoon.  She tried lemonade, chocolate carmel cake, red velvet cake, and almond paste cookies.

Our Trip to Oregon- Part 1: Portland

We returned today from our trip to Portland and the Oregon coast.  We had a wonderful time.  We saw a lot of family and enjoyed the sunshine.  Courtney spent four days with the flu.  In between laying down we went to the park, the zoo, REI, and the wading pool.  Diana enjoyed it all.  Every time she got in the stroller she kicked her legs with excitement.

Thanks Grandpa Steven for the cute top.

Diana and Cousin Diana
We spent the afternoon at Barbara's eating, playing, and focusing on Diana.  Diana loved the food.  She ate artichoke dip, humus, pita, and other goodies including chocolate cake.  She ended up with chocolate in her ear.

Cousin Diana spent a lot of time following Diana up the stairs.

Diana is working on using a fork.  By the end of the week she was able to pick up her food with a fork (well, sometimes).

Reading with Aunt Adrienne.

Diana has been talking more.  She repeats many words.  She says cracker, shoe, toes, glasses, papa (which she started calling grandpa Richard), dad, wawa (water), and some others which I can't remember now.  She is still walking holding our hands.  She is more stable and has taken a few steps on a few different occasions.  She seems very close to walking, but it feels like we've thought that for a while now.  She'll do it when she's ready.
