Diana's 1st Birthday

Diana woke up on her birthday with a fever.  We have never seen her this upset and unhappy.  She spent a lot of time laying in our arms.  She even threw up her entire bottle on aunt Rachelle.  She took two very long naps and was in no shape to greet her guests.

Diana's birthday cake
It was a bit sad that she was unable to have any cake on her birthday
Everyone else seemed to enjoy it

Diana was in no mood to party
As soon as Sean gave the O.K. grandma Sue and nana Lynda went to check on Diana after she had been asleep for over 2 hours.

She actually didn't open any
All she wanted was her pacifier

Look at those cute shoes!
Diana got many great shoes

After everyone left she checked out the snap cubes

Diana woke up this morning still having a fever.  After some tylenol, water, and some formula she was feeling much better.  She spent some time playing with Grandpa Steven before she went down for a nap.  She slept for 3 hours and woke up feeling worse.  The tylenol has finally kicked in and she seems to be doing better.
Tomorrow is her 1 year doctors appointment.

The Zoo

Last weekend we took Diana to the zoo.  She still seems to enjoy the vegetation more than the animals.  She pointed at many trees and a few animals.  While we were having a snack a squirrel came up and stole my sandwich from the stroller.

It was feeding time for the elephants.
Diana is pointing at the elephant, I think.

Christmas

We celebrated Diana's first Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's house in West Seattle.  The whole family was there, despite the weather conditions.  We had a great time hanging out and opening presents.  We even learned about the wonders of facebook.  If only we could be cool enough to join someday...I do feel cooler just having seen it.

For Christmas/Hanukkah/Christmakah Courtney received a new digital SLR, as we've probably mentioned like eight times on the blog already.  She brought the new camera with her to West Seattle, and the pictures turned out really well.

We'll all probably look back at in 20 years and say "that's pretty much the best picture ever."

No More Duck
Diana is getting too big for her duck bath.  She loved being able to move in the tub.

Our smiley girl!

Diana has been sleeping very well.  For the past week she has slept through the entire night without waking up or needing her pacifier replaced.

As we all know, Diana loves to eat.  She has been eating a lot more finger foods.  We tried garden burgers for the first time at Red Mill.  She had a great time there.  She enjoys taking pieces of food out of her bowl.  Often she tries to share with us.

Christmakah 2008

After Christmas, we drove down to Portland to see family and friends.

Diana doing ballet with Jeannette while she eats her shoe.
On the first night we drove over to Jeannette's for a party to celebrate the remodel of their house and Mary's (Jeannette's sister) wedding.

The box is more exciting than what's inside.

Aunt Rachelle and Diana are all bundled up to go out.

Nana got Diana a musical animal train.

Edgar Checking out Diana.
Diana was very interested in Edgar, but he wouldn't let her touch him.  He wold get close enough to check her out and would back away if she tried to touch him.

Diana reading at Powell's.
She loved sitting at the little table playing and reading.  It's not a surprise she enjoyed the bookstore.
