Looking for Commies

This morning we went to see Barbara, Brett and Diana. Adrienne and David (the minister) were also there. We had a great breakfast and Diana loved the French toast. After breakfast cousin David taught Diana to search for Commies. Here is Diana looking under the chair:

I'm not sure what to say, other than Nixon and McCarthy would be proud.

Christmas

Our first week of break has been very busy. We began the week by visiting car dealers in search of a new car. We ended up purchasing a Honda Insight hybrid. Diana was a trooper and spent almost 3 hours at Lynwood Honda. It was helpful that they had a lot of new things for Diana to explore. On Christmas eve we went to Sean's Aunt and Uncle's house for the evening. Diana stayed up later than she ever has before. On Christmas morning we packed up the car and headed to West Seattle.

Hanukkah

Diana had a wonderful Hanukkah! It was fun watching her get excited. She would see the menorah and run over saying, "Hanukkah! Hanukkah!"

Diana's big present was a play kitchen.
She has been making coffee and eggs for us.

Diana watching the candles
She loved the candles!
She even repeated the blessing with us. (sort of) She would look at the candles and say, "hot, hot"

Diana got some new dreidels. Mom and dad did most of the spinning.

We had a nice Hanukkah dinner with Rachelle and Noah.
We made applesauce, latkes, and kugel. It was a lot of cooking!
Diana devoured the applesauce.

Noah gave Diana a Hanukkah sticker book. She had a great time with all of the stickers.

Rachelle gave Diana a dump track. It is made out of recycled milk jugs.

Diana has figured out how to open presents.

We gave Diana a garbage/recycling truck. She loves the big green trucks.

Recent Pictures

It has been a few weeks since we posted. Diana and school have kept us very busy.

I love mustard!
Diana takes after mom and Nana who both love mustard.

Diana is taking her Sesame Street characters for a ride.

Diana enjoys painting.
She used her fingers and the brush to put the paint on the paper and in her mouth.

Playing with Daddy
Diana likes to put her hat and mitten on even when we are staying inside.

Diana laughing and being silly

Diana enjoys putting her milk or water cup inside all the other cups.

Diana still enjoys wearing her Mickey Mouse ears.
Thanks Aunt Colleen.

Music!

Diana has been very interested in listening to music in the car. It's usually the first thing she asks for when we get in the car. She is very particular about her musical tastes, too. She's not afraid to say "new one" if she doesn't like the song. We hear that fairly often. One exception was last week when Dr. Dre was on the radio. She immediately clapped and said "like it!".

So far her favorite station is classic KING fm, 98.1. We told her that it's Papa Joe's music, and now that's all that she asks for. At home she still really likes Peter Paul and Mary.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year we stayed in Seattle and had Thanksgiving in West Seattle at Grandma and Papa's. All the kids made the meal for the first time. This was due to the fact that both Grandma and Papa had surgery within the last two weeks. They are both recovering nicely.

Diana loves her Papa.

Daddy and Diana at Dinner
Diana did not eat much possibly due to her large consumption of pre-dinner snacks

Diana enjoyed eating off mom's plate more than her own.
Sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce were her favorites.

Reading with Aunt Marianne

Diana took a walk around the block with Papa and Colleen
Diana made it once around and Papa made it four times

Diana has been very busy lately. She is constantly on the move. She loved Grandma and Papa's house with all of the space. She went up and down the three flights of stairs many times.

Diana has been talking a lot. She is using more complete sentences, such as "I love you Daddy." "Thank you Colleen." "I love you too."

Diana vs the steps

Diana fell on the way to day care on Friday. She tried to walk down our front steps without holding onto the house. This didn't work so well and slipped, landing on her face. She was fine after a few minutes, and mom and dad seemed more traumatized by the event.

On Saturday morning we went to the U Village to exchange Diana's slippers for a better size. The new slippers fit very well (thanks papa Steven!). Diana's new favorite word is smoothie. She had Jamba Juice and loved it. We played outside at the play area and inside Barnes and Noble at the train set (FYI for the holidays -- Diana loves those wooden train sets).

Diana is recovering well from her fall yesterday. She still has some scratches, but she's doing fine. Here's a picture from the play area:

The Aquarium

This past weekend while Sean was away at the Whitman tournament Papa Steven came to visit. We went to the aquarium, out to dinner, and played a lot.

Happy Halloween

Diana dressed up as a ladybug for Halloween.

All ready to go!

Walking to our neighbors.

Diana enjoyed walking down our street, knocking on the doors, and checking out the candy. She was not that interested in eating the candy, perhaps because we've never given any to her. Lucky us.

After our adventures in Northgate Mall.
Diana was mesmerized by all the people, costumes and window displays.

Our cute little ladybug.
