Diana is 6 Months Old!

Diana turned 6 months old on Friday.  Dad turned 32.5 (halfway to 65!) on Thursday.  To celebrate, on Thursday we took Diana to the zoo for the first time.  She seemed more interested in the habitats than the animals.  On Friday we went to Alki to have lunch with Grandma Sue and Aunt Marianne.  Then we went to see Cousin Chloe and Aunt Becky.  Chloe is walking all over the place.  Uncle CJ was busy starting his "professional" painting career--the quality is amateur, but the prices are professional.  Thank God he has a degree in Marketing...

The flamingos are here!

Diana and Mom (if you look closely, the overexposed blobs in the background are giraffes)

Mom's favorite -- giraffes!

Diana loves (eating) her new Mariners hat!

Grandma Sue gave Diana a book at lunch.  Diana immediately took the book and started reading it.  Maybe Holy Names will still have an opening for her this Fall.

Grandma Sue and Diana at Alki.  Diana likes having pictures of her with her grandparents.

Diana liked the beach.  Two beaches in one week!  How exciting!

Mariners vs. Red Sox!

We just got back from the much anticipated Daddy-Daughter bonding day at Safeco Field.  One advantage of being a teacher on Summer vacation is that I can go to day games during the week. We had two tickets to the last Mariners-Red Sox game of the season, and CJ and I took Diana to her third game of the year.

This was the first game where Diana was able to don her full Mariners apparel.  I've been waiting for over a year to have her wear these clothes (since Fathers Day 2007) and it was exciting to see how well they fit.

Diana was definitely sleepy for the first part of the game.  She took a bit of a nap, but was awakened by the few non-Red Sox fans in the crowd cheering for Jose Vidro (professional hitter TM) and his two run homer in the sixth inning.

Uncle CJ was very helpful during the game.  Diana sat with him for a couple of innings, and he fed her during the middle innings.

Oh yeah, there was a game going on in the background...

Just in case there was any doubt, watching Ichiro bat at Safeco is about the coolest thing ever.

The Oregon Coast

This weekend we took Diana on her first trip to the Oregon Coast.  It was cold and cloudy most of the time, big surprise.  We had a nice trip except the one night Diana managed to throw up on both of her parents.

Diana enjoys looking out the window.  There were lots of trees to look at.

Every morning deer would come to eat outside our window.

Yummy!
Diana licks anything that comes near her mouth.

We went on a short hike in Ecola State Park.

All bundled up on the beach.

Diana's first trip to Haystack Rock.
We could only stay a few minutes due to the freezing wind.
Yes, we are wearing winter hats in July.

Diana slept off and on during our 6 hour trip home.
Traffic!

Diana is getting stronger.  She is almost sitting up and she rolled over for the first time.

Aunt Marianne and Uncle CJ

Aunt Marianne and Uncle CJ came to visit.

Ain't nuthin' but a G Thang

Finally a picture with Uncle CJ where Diana is not crying.

Enjoying the Sunshine

It has been nice only working a few days a week this summer.  We have had more opportunity to relax and enjoy the nice summer weather.  Diana started day care last week.  She seems to be doing well with the transition.  We are taking a lot longer getting use to it.

On Friday we went to Green Lake.

Diana and Dad relaxed together.

On Saturday we went to the Ballard Locks.
Diana spent a long time looking at all the people and trees.
We sat on the lawn, had a little lunch, and listened to the Puget Sound Symphony Chamber Players.

Awwwww!

Diana did not have much interest in the locks.

The Grandparents

Last weekend Diana was visited by Grandma Sue, Nana Lynda, and G2 (Grandpa Richard).

Grandma Sue brought lunch.
We enjoyed our sandwiches, while Diana enjoyed the bag they came in.

Nana and G2 came up for a Mariners game.

Diana loves her new toy!

Diana had a great time at brunch.
She watched everything inside and outside the restaurant.
