4 Months Old!

Diana is now 4 months old.  She had her 4 month doctors appointment last week.  We weren't surprised to find out that she has grown a lot.  She now weighs 13.5 pounds and is 25 inches long.  This time she cried for the first few minutes after her shots.  She is a trooper and was smiling by the time we left the office.  However, she got a fever the next day.  This is fairly standard for the second round of immunizations, and her temperature went back to normal after about two days.

Diana has been sleeping much longer at night.  She is now sleeping between 6 and 8 hours and often only needs to eat once during the night.  Needless to say this makes mom and dad very excited.  The only group that may be hurt by this development is the energy drink industry, which dad is single-handedly supporting.

Diana is tolerating tummy time for longer now.

Diana has been grasping objects.  At first she was holding onto things put in her hands.  She has recently grabbed her rattle and the toys on her play mat all on her own.

Grandpa Steven came for a visit.

Dad had a hard night chaperoning prom.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a family-filled Memorial Day weekend this year.  Nana and G2 came up from Portland, joined by "Favorite Aunt" candidate Adrienne.  Adrienne just returned from Italy, and she came bearing gifts, stories and a deep desire to fix our front yard.

On Saturday we met up with Rachelle and Kyle to take a walk in Fremont.  The weather was surprisingly beautiful, and the Burke was packed.  We did manage to scare off enough bikers to take a family photo.

Aunt Adrienne

We spent Sunday afternoon mowing the lawn and pulling weeds.  Diana came out and joined us for much of the afternoon.  She really loves being outside.

We borrowed our neighbor's gas mower to deal with the tall grass, and it worked well.  The front lawn is basically all weeds, but at least it's short now.  We now have the second worst lawn on the block, so we're making progress.  Adrienne was a huge help, pulling weeds and turning over the soil in the planting beds.  She even came back on Monday and planted some flowers for us.  Perhaps someday we'll tackle the back yard:)

Our lawn has definitely sunk to "worst lawn on the block" status.  The new baby excuse only goes so far, and after awhile the wither stares get to be too much.

Our Weekend

We had a busy weekend.  On Saturday Aunt Rachelle came over for a visit.  Then we went to Aunt Becky's for a barbeque.  That evening we went to see the Posies while Aunt Colleen babysat Diana.  It was very hard for mom to leave Diana.  Luckily dad put her to sleep before we left.  On Sunday we went to the Mariners game.  Surprisingly they won.  The Mariners are now 5-0 in games where dad attends.  If anyone wants to give us tickets to ensure a win streak, let us know.

Hanging out with Aunt Rachelle. Yes, that is sun in Seattle.

Diana is trying to beat the heat at Aunt Becky's.  She did not like the hot weather.

Diana loves the Baby Bjorn.

Diana reacting to yet another Richie Sexton strikeout.  If she goes to many more games, her face might freeze this way.

If this doesn't get us rally fries, I don't know what will...

Bath Time!

This week Diana began taking baths with mom.  Previously mom was only giving Diana sponge baths due to Diana's freak out after her first bath in her little tub.  Diana does much better taking baths with mom.  Her favorite part is being wrapped up in a towel after her bath.

Visiting Courtney's Family

This was Diana's third trip to Portland.

Meeting Great Aunt Leah.
Someday Diana will go over to Aunt Leah's for tuna sandwiches on Challah.

Diana spent time laughing and talking with Great Uncle Harvey.

Jeannette got to meat Diana.

Hanging out!

Uncle CJ's Graduation

This weekend we traveled to Portland for CJ's graduation from the University of Portland.  We drove down on Saturday morning and had lunch (deli turkey sandwiches, official food of the Harris family) with CJ and his roommates.  Then we went back to Nana and D2's house.  They were very excited to see the granddaughter.  On Sunday morning it was back to UP for another turkey sandwich and the graduation ceremony.  It was fun to be there with Diana, even when Dad forgot the mission-critical Baby Bjorn.  Luckily, gas is really cheap so it wasn't too expensive to drive back to Beaverton to get the Bjorn.

Uncle CJ thanking Grandpa for 17 years of tuition payments.

Diana being her usual happy self at the end of the graduation ceremony.

Like father, like son.

Grandma with her second wonderful granddaughter.

CJ...he's so hot right now...CJ.

And now, if you wanted to make a list of the people in our family who have college degrees, it would look like this:

Joseph Harris
Susan Harris
Sean Harris
Colleen Harris
Becky Harris
Marianne Harris
Charles Joseph CJ Harris

Maybe that's what CJ was typing all those years ago.

It was a lot of fun to be with the family over the weekend.  It was no Helena (how sh***y) but it was good to have everyone together again.
