Diana is 5 Weeks Old

It's hard to believe that Diana is 5 weeks old today.
We started our PEPS group this week and Diana was the smallest and youngest baby there.  I've been very tired due to my lack of sleep and Diana's sleep and feeding needs.  I'm trying to get sleep when she does, but it's hard.  Sean started giving her a bottle at night while I try to get extra sleep.  He enjoys the bonding time with Diana.

Yesterday we took a walk to the park.

Diana is Growing

Diana has been growing and changing.  She stays awake longer and has been sleeping a bit longer between feedings.  She is a little fussy now, but most of the time she is calm.  She still seems to sleep better when she is not in her crib.  She has been using the pack n' play more often.  We have noticed her looking around a lot.  She often turns her head when she hears daddy's voice.

Diana has been spending more time on her activity mat.  She seems more interested in the objects hanging above her.

Diana is 4 Weeks Old

Diana is 4 weeks old today.

Yesterday we went on our first walk to the coffee shop with aunt Rachelle.  Diana didn't enjoy being strapped into the stroller, but as soon as we got moving she was fast asleep.

Diana's First Trip to Portland

This weekend Diana went on her first trip to Portland.  We loaded up Grandma Lynda and Grandpa Richard's car.  It was a FULL car with aunt Rachelle, her cat, and all of Diana's gear.  Diana was amazing during our trip.  She loves the car and slept through most of our ride.
The weekend was filled with many visitors and shopping trips with auntie and grandma.  It was nice to see everyone.  We were disappointed that some friends and family were unable to visit because they were sick.  I'm sure we'll be back in Portland soon.

Diana was still asleep when we got to Portland

More Visitors

Diana has had many visitors.
Thanks to everyone who has brought us food, emptied the dishwasher, folded laundry, or held Diana while I slept.  We appreciate your help.

Diana Caucuses for OBAMA

Today we went to the 43rd district Democratic caucus.  The turnout was unbelievable.  In 2000 our precinct had 10 people caucus.  This year we had 113.  Obama was the overwhelming favorite.  Diana slept as people cheered and caucused loudly.  Someday we'll be telling Diana stories about her first caucus.

Diana's Two Weeks Old!

Diana was two weeks old yesterday.  She had her second checkup and everything looks great.  She now weighs 6 pounds 14 ounces and is 20 inches long.

Diana's First Movie -- Now in HD!

Here's the same video of Diana as before, but this time in the wonder and amazement that is high definition.  A word about the music: it's a band called Hummingfish.  They were an early 90s Portland band that played at Whitman often.  The school basically adopted them as our unofficial school band.  They broke up, but the lead singer is a woman named Deb Talan.  She lives in SoCal now and formed a band called The Weepies.  They rock (well, they're kind of singer/songwriter/folk, so maybe they don't "rock") and you should definitely check them out.

By the way, an unsolicited plug for Vimeo--you can upload and publish high definition video on their website.  It's like youtube but 1247 times better.  Support them, use them, love them.

Diana's First Week

It's hard to believe that Diana is one week old today.  She is a wonderful little girl and we are so lucky to be her parents.  This has been an exciting, tiring, and special week.  We look forward to watching her grow and change.  We know she won't be this little for long.

Shuttle service from Portland to Seattle leaves every weekend with Richard at the wheel.

Daddy has mastered the 5 S's.  He really knows how to calm Diana

Thank you aunt Becky and cousin Chloe for letting me borrow the swing.  If it wasn't for the swing and baby papasan mom and dad wouldn't get much sleep.

Aunt Marianne came for a a visit.

Diana had her first outing in her stroller today.  It was her first trip to U Village and the Apple store.  Daddy finally got IPhone!

How cute!
